Music Together® classes for families with young children.

Families singing together. That’s the class.

spring session
april-june

No screens. No performances. No pressure to “get it right.” Just real voices, shared rhythm, and a room full of families making music together.
Music Together® classes for children ages 0–5 and the grownups who love them.

What We Do

Most children’s activities are built for the child.

This one is built for the family.

In our classes, parents, caregivers, and grandparents don’t sit on the sidelines.
You sing, move, and play right alongside your child.

The teacher guides the class, but the music doesn’t come from the front of the room.
It comes from the people in it.

That changes how children learn.
And it changes how it feels to be there.

What makes this different

Children don’t learn music by watching it.
They learn it by being surrounded by people who are doing it.

So that’s what we build.

Adults singing with their real voices.
No expectation to perform.
No pressure to sound a certain way.

Just participation.

Over time, children stop seeing music as something “out there.”
They experience it as something they belong inside.

That’s what happens when we’re together.

What happens in class

We sing.
We move.
We keep rhythm.
We repeat things long enough for them to stick.

Some children jump right in.
Some watch for a while before joining.
Some move constantly. Some stay close.

All of it belongs.

There’s no “right way” for your child to participate.
And there’s no requirement for you to be musical.

You just show up and take part.

Why this matters (0–5 Window)

The early years move quickly.

This is one of the only stretches of life when families can do something like this together—before activities become drop-off, before schedules pull everyone in different directions.

It’s also when children are learning how to listen, respond, and be part of a group.

Music gives them a way into that.
A way to be together, to listen, and to belong.

Not through instruction.
Through experience.

What Families Notice Over Time

The songs don’t stay in class.

They show up in the car.
At bedtime.
While getting shoes on in the morning.

Music becomes something your family does, not just something you attend once a week.

And the people in the room stop feeling like strangers.

what parents are saying

We’ve been coming since our baby was three months old and absolutely love it.

My toddler sings the songs all week long!

The teachers make everyone feel welcome and loved.

This is the gold standard for young children’s programming.

important updates

Holidays

When school is closed, you’re welcome to bring older siblings to our D.C. music classes at no cost. We simply ask that you enjoy the larger group and help older children participate as if they were one of the adults.

Safety reminder: No running!

School Closures

If DCPS closes but weather conditions are still safe, classes may remain in session—and you’re welcome to bring older children.

Snow

We’ll make a weather-related decision by 8:00 a.m. on the morning of class.

School Delays

If DCPS opens two hours late:

9:30 a.m. class: Begins on time

10:30 a.m. class: Begins at 11:00 a.m.

This gives you time to either bring older children to the earlier class or drop them at school before attending music class.
